Queen Elizabeth 2, affectionately known as QE2, boasted an innovative and highly functional deck plan that set her apart from her predecessors, the original Queens. Designed with versatility in mind, her layout allowed for transitions between transatlantic voyages and leisurely cruising, adapting to different passenger needs and class configurations.
Unlike earlier liners where public spaces were often distributed across multiple levels, QE2 consolidated many of her main public rooms on a few upper decks (Boat, Upper and Quarter Deck) offering expansive spaces, large windows, and a revolutionary “hotel turned top to bottom” concept, with most passenger rooms located below the public areas.
Unlike newer ships such as QM2, QE2’s passenger accommodation was largely clustered lower in the hull, from One Deck to Five Deck. The ship offered an indoor spa at sea, on Six Deck and even had a gym and indoor pool on Seven Deck, which was on the waterline!
QE2 Custom Print
This new range of Custom Print from The Cruise Maps is created in partnership with Cunard and marine illustrator Marc-Antoine Bombail. It is a complete collection of seven scale portraits spans 90 years of Cunard history, from Queen Mary (1936) to Queen Anne (2024).
